People with disabilities represent the single largest and most diverse minority in the U.S. One out of five Americans has a disability or approximately 49 million people. People with disabilities have better attendance and are more committed to their jobs. Families with a disabled member are more likely to support businesses that are disability friendly. Seventy two percent of working age people with disabilities have high school diplomas or a higher degree. Most people with disabilities want to work. Two out of three people with disabilities who are unemployed, say they would prefer to work. People with disabilities work or are trained to work in all kinds of professions. Tax incentives are in place to encourage employers to hire people with disabilities. The best reason to hire a person with disabilities is because that person is qualified.
