About Our Employee Success Story of the Year
          2009 Award Winner, Gary McGowan . . . .

Gary McGowan has worked at Lowes Foods since 2006. His first job with the grocery store was stocking the dairy cases. Ray Daniels, Gary’s first supervisor, says “I could tell at the beginning that he was going to be good at the job. It didn’t take much for him to catch on.” Gary stayed in the dairy department until 2009 when he was asked to move up to the “front” of the store as a bagger, cart attendant and grocery customer assistant. Customers and fellow employees enjoy being around Gary who has a great attitude and work ethic. “He is willing to do whatever is asked,” says Store Manager Bill Edd.

Away from his job, Gary enjoys swimming, bowling, participating in Special Olympics, and attending Kiwanis Aktion Club meetings. He lives with his Mom and Dad, Kenneth and Lorraine, in Greenville. At home he helps Lorraine vacuum and Kenneth cut the grass. Gary also has a fondness for most sports and, of course, he is a huge Pirate fan!

Gary’s great attitude and work ethic make him the perfect choice for ECVC’s Success Story of the Year Award 2009. Congratulations, Gary!
