GREENVILLE, NC – December 2025 — Eastern Carolina Vocational Center, Inc. (ECVC) recognized six outstanding employees with Foundation Awards during its annual employee Christmas luncheon on December 19th, 2025. The ECVC Foundation Awards 2025 celebrate employees whose dedication and leadership exemplify the organization’s mission and core values.
ECVC Foundation Awards 2025 Recipients
The Walter B. Jones, Jr. Award for Excellence, named in honor of the late Congressman and longtime ECVC Foundation Board member known for his principled leadership and advocacy for military service members, was presented to David Windley, Maintenance Technician. Windley was recognized for his exceptional leadership and contributions to ECVC’s warehouse modernization and facility operations. Nominators cited his role in completing major infrastructure improvements, including replacing outdated lighting with energy-efficient LED systems, as well as his consistent support of production teams to ensure reliable daily operations.
The Morris Brody Award for Excellence, established to honor the founder of the ECVC Foundation and his belief that organizational excellence begins with outstanding employee performance, was awarded to Lisa Taylor, Employment Specialist. The top vote-getter in this year’s selection process, Taylor was praised for her unwavering dedication to ECVC’s mission, compassionate service to the individuals she supports, and her dependable work ethic. Nominators described her role as being at the very core of ECVC’s purpose.
The James Earl Jones Award for Excellence, named for a former ECVC Board Chairman whose faithful service and guidance left a lasting impact on the organization, was presented to Robbie Sutton, Production Supervisor. Sutton was recognized for his dedication, leadership, and commitment to professional growth. His attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and strong work ethic were noted as integral to the success of ECVC’s production and packaging operations.
The James Dupree Award for Excellence, honoring a longtime ECVC Board Chairman, community leader, and former Mayor of Bethel, known for decades of service to Eastern North Carolina, was awarded to Douglas Ray, C&D Sorter. Ray was recognized for his dependability, positive attitude, and essential role in ECVC’s Pitt County C&D (Construction and Demolition) sorting operation, where he consistently helps ensure efficient material flow and daily operational success.
The Daneel le Roux Award for Excellence, named for ECVC’s transformational President from 1982 to 2012 whose leadership helped guide the organization into long-term stability and growth, was presented to Holmes Harrison, Chair Caner. ECVC’s longest-tenured employee with 53 years of service, Harrison was honored for his exceptional craftsmanship, unwavering loyalty, and lifelong dedication to ECVC and its customers throughout Eastern North Carolina.
The Walter L. Williams Award for Excellence, established in memory of a respected community leader and philanthropist known for his strong work ethic and commitment to giving back, was awarded to Miosotis Sencion-Lorenzo, Cleaner. Recognized for her exemplary performance in ECVC’s Janitorial Department, Sencion-Lorenzo was praised for her reliability, punctuality, attention to detail, and consistently high level of customer satisfaction.
Jason Thomas, President and CEO, and Darone Dancy, Vice President of Workforce Operations, presented the awards. Along with plaques, recipients received monetary awards made possible by the support of the ECVC Foundation Board. All honorees were nominated by their fellow employees and supervisors for their exceptional efforts and meaningful contributions to the success of their departments and to ECVC’s mission.
