GREENVILLE, N.C. – Eastern Carolina Vocational Center (ECVC) has been named the recipient of the 2026 AMVETS Department of North Carolina Veteran Friendly Employer of the Year Award, recognizing the organization’s commitment to Veteran employment, workplace support, and fostering a culture that values military service.
The award was presented during the AMVETS Department of North Carolina State Convention on June 6, 2026, in Clemmons, North Carolina. ECVC Vice President of Workforce Operations Darone Dancy accepted the award on behalf of the organization.
AMVETS Recognizes ECVC’s Commitment to Veterans
AMVETS (American Veterans), founded in 1944 and chartered by Congress, is one of the nation’s leading Veterans service organizations. With more than 250,000 members nationwide, AMVETS works to enhance the quality of life for Veterans, their families, and survivors through advocacy, programs, and community service.
The Veteran Friendly Employer of the Year Award recognizes organizations that demonstrate an ongoing commitment to recruiting, employing, supporting, and retaining Veterans in the workforce.
Veterans play an important role throughout ECVC’s workforce, serving in facility maintenance, manufacturing, human resources, and administrative operations. Their skills, leadership, and commitment to service strengthen ECVC’s ability to provide meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities and others facing barriers to employment.

Building on a Legacy of Veteran Employment
The recognition adds to ECVC’s long-standing commitment to supporting Veterans through employment and workforce development opportunities. Earlier this year, the organization earned the U.S. Department of Labor’s HIRE Vets Gold Medallion Award for the seventh consecutive year, recognizing ECVC’s efforts to recruit, employ, and retain Veterans.
As an AbilityOne participating nonprofit agency and federal contractor, ECVC supports military and government supply chains worldwide through the manufacture and distribution of products used by the U.S. Department of Defense and other federal agencies.
