Celebrating Disability Employment Since 1982
Since 1982, ECVC’s Annual Banquet has stood as a proud tradition honoring the achievements of individuals with disabilities and the employers who champion inclusive hiring. Held each October, the event aligns with National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) and reinforces ECVC’s mission to expand inclusive employment in North Carolina.
A Legacy of Recognition and Inspiration
Each year, the banquet features keynote speakers who have overcome personal and professional challenges. Additionally, the event includes the presentation of the Employee Success Story of the Year (ESSOY) Award, which honors an individual with a disability who has achieved success in a community job with support from ECVC’s Employment Services team. These stories of perseverance and achievement embody the spirit of inclusion. As a result, the banquet continues to serve as a powerful reminder of what’s possible through opportunity and support.
What is National Disability Employment Awareness Month?
ECVC’s Annual Banquet serves as the official kickoff to National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) — a nationwide observance celebrating the contributions of workers with disabilities. Led by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP), NDEAM promotes inclusive workplace practices and highlights the value of a diverse workforce.
