ECVC’s Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS)

In partnership with the Division of Employment and Independence for People with Disabilities (EIPD), ECVC provides Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) to students with disabilities ages 14–21 in collaboration with local school systems. Our program helps students explore career pathways, build workplace readiness skills, and prepare for competitive integrated employment or post-secondary education.

  • Pitt Academy

  • J.H. Rose High School

  • D.H. Conley High School
  • Pitt Community College

Beaufort County Schools

  • Washington High School

  • Northside High School

  • Southside High School

Through hands-on training, job exploration counseling, work-based learning experiences, and workplace readiness instruction, ECVC supports students in developing the confidence and skills needed for long-term success.

What is Pre-ETS?

Pre-ETS offers vocational training and opportunities that provide awareness, exploration, and preparation for students ages 14 – 21 to prepare them for the workforce or to continue their education and vocational training after high school. Pre-ETS provides workplace readiness training, work-based learning, and self-advocacy, including paid internships, to students with disabilities.

Why Pre-ETS?

ECVC’s Pre-Employment Transition Services offer students with disabilities,
ages 14-21, a chance to explore the world of work.

Pre-ETS were designed to give students with disabilities an earlier start at job exploration, career planning, and post-secondary counseling to enhance their ability to gain competitive integrated work directly after high school. Students with disabilities can participate in industry-based career exploration, work readiness skill development, and career exploration. The Pre-ETS program will help students with disabilities prepare for life after high school and self-advocacy skills.


Enrollment Process

  • Parents/guardians complete an enrollment release packet.
  • Information from the packet is entered into the Employment and Independence for People with Disabilities (EIPD) system so they can complete a referral.
  • The ECVC Pre-ETS Specialist at your school will begin working with students when approval is received from EIPD, and they have completed the intake paperwork.
  • The ECVC Pre-ETS Specialist will coordinate with the teacher to be part of the Individualized Educational Placement (IEP) team to update the Student Service section of the annual plan.
  • The ECVC Pre-ETS Specialist will schedule time with the Pitt County partners to work with the students on their individualized milestones!
