2023 Morris Brody Award for Excellence
Candy Avery has always excelled in her role and delivered impressive results. In the past couple of years, she has taken on more and more responsibilities, in support of multiple people and departments. In doing so, she has demonstrated significant skill, patience and flexibility, and routinely displays ECVC’s core values at a high level.
She has aided the HR department by taking on critical tasks and reports. She is also an integral part of the banquet committee, interacting with sponsors and guests and helping to make sure the event is successful. One of the most time-consuming and impactful things that she does is keeping the leadership team on task with the EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) process. She updates and maintains multiple documents in support of EOS, provides timely reminders of critical tasks, and complies minutes from each weekly meeting, as well as quarterly and annual planning events. This employee’s expertise with these items is one of the reasons the EOS process is successful at ECVC. She coordinates board meetings, she reminds board members to attend each month, and keeps excellent minutes from each meeting. She also has an eagle eye for editing and proofreading. She frequently catches errors and typos in important documents, helping to make our records accurate. She does a tremendous amount of behind-the-scenes work that keeps so many different things running smoothly.
Her contributions cannot be overstated and are in keeping with the highest standards of ECVC. For all these reasons and more, Candy Avery, Executive Assistant was recognized with the 2023 Morris Brody Foundation Award for Distinguished Service.
Morris Brody Award for Excellence
The ECVC Foundation Board established the Morris Brody Award for Excellence in 2011 to pay tribute to the legacy and memory of Mr. Morris Brody, who founded the Board in 1985. Mr. Brody had a vision of excellence for the operation and activities of ECVC, which he believed could only be achieved through the superior performance of ECVC’s employees. He established the ECVC Foundation Awards Program to encourage and reward outstanding employee performance and provide staff training opportunities.
The Board acknowledges the success and influence of Mr. Brody’s Foundation Awards program as evidenced by the outstanding accomplishments of ECVC. Year after year, ECVC has won acclaim and received numerous local and national awards and recognitions for achieving great success with all its diverse programs. ECVC has helped thousands of persons with disabilities who are now happy, productive employees and citizens.
The “Morris Brody Award for Distinguished Service” is awarded to a staff member who has demonstrated exemplary leadership on behalf of ECVC’s mission to enhance opportunities for people with disabilities.
